The Bride and the Mistress

The Unreliable Narrator

The Bride glowed
and blushed
at the very thought
of her beloved’s arrival.
Her happiness
occasionally punctuated
by worries
about the quality of food
and the fitting
of her carefully designed
bridal dress.

The Mistress
downed a glass of Vodka
and laughed
at the thought of love
and betrayal.
She had earned her right
to scorn Love
and the vanities
of the pompous world
of brides, wives and weddings.
